This is the latest candidate. The ask is $8,500 USD for a real 427 Tri-Power car BUT the engine is really just a block and water pump with no crankshaft or pistons, there are no interior pictures and its not even mentioned if it comes with a transmission. Seller says the frame is solid (they all do) but the trim tag is missing. Thoughts?

I’m with crowmolly, delete that listing from your views.

You’re better off paying more for a more complete car.

Nope. While you could get the right crank for a 427 (has to be a 427 crank for the correct stroke - bores shared with some other sizes) and new pistons for not that much, it’s probably been weather-befunged on the inside beyond all belief, and by the time you’re into it for an interior and an engine build and who knows what else...

It’d about make as much sense to buy the Corvorado from the other day. Possibly more.

I’d pay for a finished one if I had $35k to spend but sadly that isn’t the case.

I just mean more complete than that, I don’t know your budget. It’s tough when you’re in the market for one particular car too. Like when I was shopping I was looking for a Torino but was obviously more than happy to take a Montego. Unfortunately with Corvette there’s not a brand copy to branch out to.

What if you just bought like a cheap rubber bumper MGB and then kept saving up for a nicer vette?

Thought about it but wouldn’t really work. I only have two parking spaces so I’d have to sell the MGB as soon as I found a Corvette and no doubt it would nickel and dime me along the way.
